UroLift® System Treatment

The UroLift® System is a minimally invasive device designed to treat lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).  It opens the urethra directly by retracting the obstructing prostatic lobes without applying incisions, surgical resection or thermal injury to the prostate.

How It Works:

  • A trained physician inserts the UroLift delivery device transurethrally through a rigid sheath (not shown) under cystoscopic visualization to reach the targeted area of obstruction.
  • The physician carefully determines the precise location to place each permanent UroLift implant. S/he uses the UroLift delivery device to retract the obstructing prostatic lobes and deploy a needle that comes out of the delivery device to deliver the permanent implant.
  • The physician removes the UroLift delivery device and sheath, leaving an expanded urethral lumen. The exact number of implants required is determined by the trained physician and can vary depending on the size and shape of the prostatic obstruction.
  • Endoscopic results can be immediately confirmed post-procedure.
  • Can treat LUTS without compromising normal prostate function
  • Can provide rapid relief without complications from prostate injury
  • UroLift system opens up a new option for urologists and patients
  • UroLift system treatment does not preclude the option for future TURP should one be indicated

A Quality of Life Solution for BPH Patients*

  • The procedure may be performed under local or general anesthesia
  • Some patients can avoid any catheterization
  • Patients typically recover quickly
  • Most patients experience symptom relief within 2 weeks post-procedure
  • There have been no reports of new onset of sexual dysfunction, retrograde ejaculation or permanent erectile dysfunction
